Chris Paradis


Justine assisting half moon.Chris began practicing yoga seven years ago while on sabbatical as head coach of the Amherst College Women's Lacrosse Team. A highly accomplished World Cup Lacrosse player, Chris turned to yoga for stress reduction and relief from chronic back pain. Shortly after beginning her yoga practice, it became apparent to Chris that yoga yielded considerably more than mere relaxation. A natural teacher, Chris wanted to share the benefits of a rigorous vinyasa practice with college athletes. In 2005, she attended her first teacher intensive with Shiva Rea. Inspired, the training sparked the beginning of an ongoing quest to attain knowledge about the physical, emotional and spiritual journey of yoga. Chris has completed the 200-hour teaching certification program at Embodyoga, directed by Patty Townsend at the Yoga Center Amherst. In 2011, Chris completed a 100 hour Anusara Yoga Immersion at the Yoga Sanctuary in Northampton, MA with Amy Reed. In her classes, Chris establishes a supportive environment where she challenges, nurtures, and inspires students to work through emotional and physical limitations through breath and the daily practice of asana. In addition to instructing at Ananda Yoga, Chris teaches yoga at Amherst College where she is the head coach of the nationally ranked Women's Lacrosse Team.
